Back at the office after two stimulating days at the Swedish Health Economics Association (SHEA) conference in Linköping, where key issues shaping the future of health economics were front and center.

Quantify Spotlight: Our own Konstantin Macheridis presented new analyses using EFPIA – European Federation of Pharmaceutical Industries and Associations‘ Swedish W.A.I.T data for orphan drugs, exploring the impact of Tandvårds- och läkemedelsförmånsverket, TLV’s new tools to improve access to treatments for rare diseases.

Highlights included powerful keynotes from Christopher McCabe on fair pharmaceutical pricing and Lina Koppel on scientific rigor and the role of meta‑science in health economics.

This year’s program also emphasized decision‑making and policy, with sessions on severity assessments, willingness‑to‑pay thresholds, and Sweden’s evolving role in the European Joint Clinical Assessment (JCA) process.

A compelling theme throughout the conference was health inequality and societal preferences – how we define fairness, set priorities, and account for the broader impact on families and caregivers.

Many thanks to all speakers and organizers for an insightful and forward‑looking program! Hope to see you again next year.
